My Travel Bucket List!

Friday, 12 June 2015

Hello Everyone,

I love going on holiday and travelling to different places an awful lot. I'm only 15, but have already been to many lovely places so am therefore extremely lucky. However, I have still created myself a list of all the beautiful places I still want to visit, and am constantly adding to this list! So today I have cut down that list considerably to reduce it to the main five destinations on my travel bucket list.

I hope you enjoy reading, and finding out about all the places I want to visit...

Los Angeles - I have wanted to visit Los Angeles for such a long time! It just seems like such a great place to visit, with so many different things to see. There's all the sights of Hollywood and the surrounding areas, and there's also DisneyLand which is relatively close by in Anaheim.

Rome - in all honesty I kind of want to visit the whole of Italy, but I picked out Rome as it is the capital and seems to be so full of amazing, historical places to visit. I am really interested in history and visiting places such as the Colosseum would be really interesting to me. Not to mention the food in Italy- I am in love with Italian foods, and anyone who knows me, knows my obsession with pasta, ice cream and especially pizza!

Amsterdam - since I saw The Fault In Our Stars, I have wanted to visit Amsterdam. It seems like such a pretty place to visit with all its canals and beautifully built houses. As well as this, it seems like quite a laid back place to visit and, is also quite historical with tourist attractions such as the Anne Frank museum.

New York City - what can I say? New York is just one of those places that most people say they want to visit. I don't know if it's the shops, the tourist attractions or just the general atmosphere of the place but I just really want to visit! I would love to visit around Christmas time, as I just think it would all look so beautiful and festive even if it would be extremely chilly.

San Fransisco - another city in California, I know. But in all honesty I would love to do a road trip of somewhere like California as it just seems to be a place with so much to offer. Theme parks, shopping, tourism and beaches- there's too much to choose from.

However, I have put San Franscico near the top of my travel bucket list, just because I would love to see the Golden Gate Bridge and the other beautiful things in and around the Bay Area!

Well, there's some of my travel bucket list! I would really like to do another post similar to this with other places that I would love to visit, as there are just so many!

Which places are on your travel bucket list?

Thank you for reading..

Unboxing - New Balance Trainers

Wednesday, 10 June 2015

Hello Everyone,

I feel as though I have bought a bit too much lately as I have been off school, and have gone shopping rather frequently. Anyway, I'm back at school now so won't be spending as much until the summer holidays arrive, but one of the final things I bought over the past couple of weeks were these New Balance Trainers.

I thought it might be quite fun to create a post and share with you some of my first impressions of these trainers as I unbox them and try them out- I did try them on in the shop as well obviously to make sure they fit properly but I only had them on for less than a minute then...

New Balances have been on my wishlist for quite a while now as I think they look good when paired with so many different outfits- jeans, shorts, leggings etc, and I have seen them on other people and I just really like the general style of them.

The particular pair that I bought were from Schuh and were £55 ( yes, quite pricey but I will get a good wear out of them as I practically live in trainers ). They are from the 410 range and are mostly navy blue, but with elements of grey at the back and on the logo.

They seem to fit really well and feel pretty comfy almost immediately- I find that quite a lot of trainers tend to rub the back of my feet but these feel quite padded and soft around the back, so fingers crossed they will not rub or cause blisters. It would be pretty handy if they didn't rub over both short and long amounts of time as I tend to walk a lot, and for long hours, and there is nothing worse than getting a blister. The fact that these trainers are quite bouncy is also a good thing for when I walk around as it means that they feel quite light, and are easy to move about in.

I like the colour of these trainers a lot as well. In the store, I was torn between burgundy and this colour and wasn't sure which I liked better- but then I was told that they didn't have the burgundy in my size so I suppose my decision was made for me. It is, in my opinion, a good thing that these trainers are dark colours as they wont get dirty as easily as light trainers. Also the material that these trainers are predominantly made from, seems to be the kind of material that you can wipe clean, apart from a section at the front that is suede.

These are really just my first impressions of these particular trainers, but my first impressions are pretty good as impressions go. However, I will have to see how I get on in these trainers but the way things are looking, it seems they will be a footwear staple for me over the coming months.

Thanks for reading,

Celebrity Style - Taylor Swift

Sunday, 7 June 2015

Hello Everyone,

This will be a very fashion related post, but first I just want to tell you that this is a collab with Imogen, who is so lovely and also has a really lovely blog. I have never done a collab before, but then Imogen contacted me and asked me and it sounded like a good opportunity for the both of us as we are both trying to get our blogs known! Today she has posted a really great post on nail polishes, (similar to the post I did a couple of weeks ago) so head over to her blog  and check it out- you won't regret it!!

Anyway, on with the post and I, like many people, spend a lot of my time reading through magazines and feeling envious over the beautiful clothes certain celebrities wear and how perfect they always seem to look. Currently, one of the celebrities whose style I particularly like, is none other than Taylor Swift ( but you could probably tell that from this posts title).

In this post, I will just be sharing some of my favourite outfits that Taylor has worn, both in a casual way and also on the red carpet.

Street Style

I feel like Taylor's street style game has really grown over the past year or so. Whenever I see her walking around New York or anywhere else in magazines, I always marvel at how perfect she looks, even when she has just left the gym. She always manages to look so feminine and pristine- plus, I really love her hair in a shorter long bob style!

Red Carpet Style

Taylor always looks lovely on the Red Carpet as well. Again, I think she always manages to pull off the glamour of red carpet style with such gorgeous gowns, and quite often a signature red lipstick to top it all off. One of my particular favourite Red Carpet looks of Taylor's is from the Met Gala last year ( a picture is featured later in the post), when she wore a beautiful pink Oscar De La Renta dress and just looked so pretty!

Well, there's some of my favourite looks that Miss Swift has adorned in recent times. I hope you enjoyed this kind of post, as I would like to create more in this style as there are some many celebrity styles that I love!

Whose celebrities style do you envy?

My Current Beauty Wishlist

Thursday, 4 June 2015

Hello Everyone,

This post was meant to go up on the weekend, but for some reason I accidentally uploaded it before I had finished it earlier this evening. I have since deleted that unfinished version but I think it is still on my Bloglovin page. This however, is the finished version that I thought was only fair that I uploaded, since I had made the mistake of previously uploaded something that wasn't finished :-)

Anyway, as you can tell my blogging schedule has kind of gone out the window- this was meant for Sunday but oh well. So now I am just probably going to go back to uploading whenever as my blog is kind of just getting started I suppose, as I haven't even had it a month yet! Also, at the moment I have got enough free time to upload frequently, but will probably go back to my 'sort of' schedule if time gets a bit more stretched for me.

So this post is just about the beauty products that I am currently dreaming of owning, and trying in vain to save up for- even though I don't think I will be able to save up for all of them no matter how hard I try!

All the products from the photo are mentioned from left to right on each row and links are connected via the product name...
  • Mac Ruby Woo Lipstick-£15.50 - In one of my previous blog posts (http://oliviaredfern.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/mac-lipstick-reviews-chatterbox-and.html) I mentioned how I wanted to build my Mac Lipstick collection and also wanted to make a Mac Wishlist post for my blog- which will hopefully be coming very soon! One of the main lipsticks on my Mac Wishlist, however, has to be Ruby Woo as everyone raves about it which puts it firmly within the list of beauty products that I next want to buy.
  • Essie Maximillian Strasse Her- £7.99- I have seen this nail polish reviewed by several people and it always looks like such a lovely shade. Also, with it being Essie I know that it will be good as I regard Essie as one of my staple brands.
  • Urban Decay Pallette- £38- I have literally wanted an Urban Decay Pallette for so long, but can't bring myself to spend that amount of money on them. However, I am hopefully going to the Clothes Show later in the year and know that they sell them cheaper there, so I will definitely be purchasing one then. The nude colours and shades all look so gorgeous that I just can't wait!
  • Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation-£8.99- I never wear foundation as I find it too heavy on my skin and pores, but my mum has used this foundation and says that it is pretty light and I have heard others say that it has a light coverage, so I may give it a go.
  • Tarte Blush- $28- All Tarte blushes just look so pretty that I don't even feel like I am yearning for a certain colour. I just want to own one and be able to look at its cute little packaging and wear one of the very sweet looking colours.
  • Benefit Roller Lash Mascara- £19.50- I have a mini version of this mascara already, which I believe I got free with Elle magazine a few months ago, and it is nearly all gone now. When I first tried it I wasn't sure as I was so stuck in my ways with the They're Real mascara. But the more I used the Rollerlash, the more I enjoyed using it- it really extenuates the lashes and it is also easy to remove which leaves me wanting to purchase the full sized product.
  • Soap and Glory Lid Stuff Pallette-£10- I have heard so many people recommend this Pallette so whenever I go to my nearest Boots store I also look for the neutral version of it but I am yet to find it in stock. As it is neutral and also Soap and Glory, I feel as though it is a win win situation as I love both things!
  • Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Polishin the shade Eat My Dust-£3.99- I have recently tried my first Barry M nail polish (I also reviewed it, and you can read it here-http://oliviaredfern.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/review-barry-m-speedy-quick-dry-nail.html) and it was also from the Speedy Quick Dry Range. I really loved the polish, and believed it to be incredible quality and value for money. So therefore, I would love to try one in another colour, and the blue/grey tones of this shade made it immediately catch my eye.
  • Nars Bronzerin the shade Laguna- £27.50 I love a good bronzer and I have heard all too many great things about this particular one. Now that it's getting to summer and my skin is hopefully getting a bit of a tan, I need a new bronzer to just add a bit more colour to my cheekbones.

Well I hope you enjoyed the actual finished version of this post and I'm sorry for the mix up!

What's currently on your beauty Wishlist?

Thank you for reading :-)

Review- Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Paint

Wednesday, 3 June 2015

Hello Everybody,

Today I will be reviewing a product that I have wanted to buy for such a long time but have only just got round to purchasing - that product being the Barry M Nail Paint. I have never actually owned a Barry M beauty product, let alone one of their nail polishes, but after seeing them featured so many times in magazines, and recommended so many times in other blogs I decided to finally get one.

The particular Barry M nail polish that I purchased was the Speedy Quick Dry Nail Paint in the colour Speed Demon, which is a lovely light pink with added shimmer.

I firstly want to say that I really like the packaging of these nail varnishes- they are really sweet and compact bottles that are easy to pop in your bag when you go out or if you are travelling. I also really like the black and white checkered pattern on the Speedy range of polishes as it adds that extra bit of flare to the packaging, and helps them to stand out clearly on the shelf amongst the masses of other nail polishes and their brands.

On to reviewing the actual product though, and I can honestly say that I have all positive points about this polish...

I love the brush in this polish- it is a really great shape and size and helps the polish apply to the nail very easily, which is always obviously a positive for me.

The colour of the polish is so pretty- it is a quite light pink which I really love anyway, but I feel like the shimmer just adds that something more to it. I usually apply two coats to see the colour at its full potential, but I think one coat would look nice as well if you didn't want anything too bright on your nails, and just a bit of a shine.

The polish itself is great quality- I was pretty dubious whether the actual polish would be any good for £3.99, but as soon as applied this product I realised I had been wrong to be so doubtful. It actually stays on my nails extremely well and when I wear it, even after a few days, I can't see any chips when I haven't even applied a topcoat . This leaves me very impressed with the value for money- I have paid a lot more for polishes before and they have almost immediately chipped.

It really does dry quickly- when a nail polish normally says that it dries quickly, I just expect it to be a lie and a bit of myth that just helps to sell the product. But in the case of this nail polish, I actually think the claim seems to be true. Even with two coats of polish it dried super quickly which is always helpful as I suspect myself, and many others hate waiting for nail polish to dry and then smudging it etc.

I generally can't currently find any negatives to this particular product. However, this is only my first Barry M nail polish, so I will have to try some more to see if they all live up to the very high standard of this one!

I hope you found this post helpful, and thank you for reading :-)

P.S. Thank you for 200 Bloglovin followers, and now nearly 300 and all your lovely comments on my other blog posts, it means a lot!

June Goals

Tuesday, 2 June 2015

Hello Everybody,

You may know that my new blogging schedule is supposed to be Wednesday, Friday and Sunday but I am going to be adding the odd other post in here and there. This post being one that has been added in as it's only Tuesday, but I really just wanted to post this as it is relevant to right now as it is my June Goals.

I have seen this sort of post several times, and upon reading it on other peoples blogs I really wanted to recreate it myself and make my own goals for this month. So here goes...

1. Try and maintain a good routine of exercise- as I have got older, I have realised how important exercise is and how I need to be doing it as often as possible in order to feel healthy and maintain a healthy lifestyle. However, sometimes I don't feel like exercising (well, a lot of the time actually) and give up before I have even started. So therefore, this month I want to make the effort to get up and exercise and make no excuses when I'm doing it- by doing this I can hopefully feel that little bit better about treating myself to a cake or bar of chocolate when I want.

2. Try and eat healthier- yes, doing exercise is all well and good but eating healthily also matters. I would say that I do eat reasonably healthily, but when given the option of a cake or an apple I will undoubtably pick the cake every single time. So this month, I want to try and make the effort to occasionally pick the healthy option over the unhealthy option and also try to eat more fruit and veg than I do now- by doing this I hope to make myself feel healthier and also improve things like my skin.

3. Keep on top of school work- I am reasonably good at doing this anyway but as the summer approaches and as the idea of a long summer holidays creeps in, it's only human nature to slack off with the school work a little. So this month, I am not going to let this happen and I am going to make sure I meet deadlines and stay on track by making reminders on my phone etc, and also setting aside time to do school work on weekends and some week nights.

4. Try and do different things- I used to be one of those people who kind of just stayed in a rut and didn't really venture out of their comfort zones. Lately though, I am slowly escaping from this and venturing out to try different things. So this month I want to continue with this by grabbing hold of any new opportunities that come my way, visiting places I wouldn't normally think to visit and trying things such as foods that I wouldn't normally have tried.

5. Enjoy the summer- we don't really have that many sunny days in the UK in all honesty, and a lot of the time I spend those lovely days sat inside and not doing a lot. So this month and for the rest of the summer, every time we have a lovely day I am going to make the most of it- I want to go out in the sun wearing all of my summery clothes and eat ice cream and have barbecues, because these are the things that I will wish I had done when I am freezing cold and wrapped up in layers of coats and scarves in the winter.

Well, there are some of my goals for June- I really hope to keep to them, as I feel as though they are all little differences that will add up to June being a good month for me, which is something that I wish for every month to be as they seem to fly by so fast.

Feel free to comment below and tell me any of your goals for this month or for the rest of this year :-)

Thanks for reading and I will be posting again tomorrow,

Olivia xo
