Body and Beauty Holiday Essentials

Sunday, 26 June 2016

As I was sorting out all my holiday bits and pieces the other day, I found myself making some big decisions about what items I actually want to take away on my travels. I want to travel light, as I know I am bound to buy quite a lot whilst I am actually at my destination (I can already hear Sephora calling to me)- therefore I had to whittle down through the clothing, beauty and body stuff I am to take with me.

Today, I therefore thought I would just share with you some of the beauty and body bits and bobs that I am definitely going to pop into my suitcase, and just know that I wouldn't be able to survive without whilst I am away...

Fragrance Direct Goodies

Wednesday, 22 June 2016

I have recently been lucky enough to recieve several bits and bobs from brands, and the other day I found myself incredibly excited to recieve some goodies from Fragrance Direct If you have never heard of Fragrance Direct, it is simply a website that sells lots of different bath, beauty and fragrance items, from lots of different well known brands, but at cheaper prices.

Today, I will be telling you all a little about the lovely products that I have received and am now loving using, and explain to you the savings you can make when buying such products from Fragrance Direct...

New in from Yumi!

Sunday, 19 June 2016

The other day, I was lucky enough to receive a few bits and pieces from Yumi- a clothing brand that I have wanted to purchase something from for such a long time, after browsing their beautiful range of items online and in stores on many occasions.

Today, I will just be sharing a few snaps of the products that I got (a gorgeous kaftan/shirt dress, a beautiful blouse, and a cute little bag) and also talk a little about why I love each of them so much...

(Before you read/browse further into this post, I would like to alert the fact that I have taken outfit photos of my clothes, and as I am not really used to doing this, I may look a little awkward- sorry for that, but I just wanted to try and show the beauty of said clothing items as clearly as possible!)

Dry Skin Saviours

Wednesday, 15 June 2016

I, like many others, suffer from bouts of dry skin. These patches can appear on my arms, my legs, my face, even my stomach, so for that reason I am rather equipped with a whole host of moisturisers and creams ready to get my skin feeling smooth and fresh again in no time.

Today, I therefore thought I would share some of my current favourite moisturisers- these items have definitely faired well in recent times when it comes to battling drying, and hopefully by telling you all a little about each, they will also prove helpful to you too...

Neal's Yard Body Lotion...not only is this lotion super helpful at keeping my skin smooth, it also smells gorgeous (it's reportedly meant to smell like Geranium and Orange, but to me simply smells like the fragrant scent of Turkish Delight). I also actually received this bottle in a magazine some time last year, which is pretty amazing considering that I paid so little for such a big bottle, that simply never seems to run out. If you were actually to go out and buy this though (and not receive it as a free gift like me) it would cost you up to £20, which seems a little pricey when you can pop into Boots and get a moisturiser for say, a couple of pounds. However, this body lotion is really very good, and does live up to the great standard that Neal's Yard usually set with their products- after applying, my skin does seem to stay pretty hydrated for quite some time, and unlike some fragranced moisturisers this one doesn't cause havoc with my skin either.

Cowshed Body Lotion...I really love the names of all the Cowshed products (this one being called Grumpy Cow), but rarely find myself using or buying such products as they definitely aren't on the cheap side (again, an average sized bottle can cost about £20). However, I received this bottle as part of my Advent Calendar last year, and have recently started using it (and have also recently started loving it)!

The smell of this body lotion isn't as nice as the Neal's Yard one in my opinion, although it does still smell nice, and it also seems to work wonders on my skin. This lotion is advertised as 'uplifting' on the bottle, and 'uplifting' I have to say it actually was- as soon as I popped on this product, my arms and legs immediately felt fresher, and with such a cute sized bottle, this product will be perfect to take away with me to keep my skin hydrated whilst travelling.

Roger&Gallet Hand and Nail Cream...I never really used to be into hand creams- the greasiness of them on my hands, and the rather pungent smell of many of the more expensive ones certainly put me off. However, I am very much prone to getting dry hands (which is definitely not an attractive feature), so when I received this hand cream a few months back I thought I would give it a bit of a try. And what do you know? It actually turned out that I really loved this handcream- it really soothes and cares for the chapped skin on my hands, whilst smelling quite beautiful with it lovely scent of Shea and Fig. However, if I were to actually go out and rebuy this product it would cost £6, which I don't think is all that bad as it isn't like I get through hand cream incredibly quickly anyway!

Simple Light Moisturiser...I definitely think that with Simple Skincare products, you really can't go wrong. When it comes to face products, they really do have it nailed- this moisturiser is perfect to daub all over my face to combat any dry areas, as it immediately soothes without clogging up the skin, or making it look greasy.

Simple products don't really have the luxurious scent of some of the other lotions out there, but this is becuase this brand is directing caring products at those with sensitive skin. This makes this face cream absolutely perfect for the more volatile areas of my face that I know are to break out in blemishes if am to use anything out of the ordinary. For around £4 (although this is a small gift set bottle, that is the perfect size for travelling), this product is perfect if you have patches of dry skin that you want smoothing out, to create flawless complexion under makeup, or without!

And there you have it...four of my current favourite dry skin saviours, that I honestly couldn't live without when it comes to combatting the problem of rehydrating my skin.

I hope you all enjoyed this post!

NYX Matte Lipsticks - Better than MAC?

Sunday, 12 June 2016

So, after much excitement and a never ending wait, my local Boots got itself a NYX counter!

Quite honestly, it's unbelievable how excited I was upon seeing such a counter appear before my eyes- just as I entered the shop, I remarked to my Mom that I really hoped we would get a NYX counter soon, and how excited I would be if such a thing happened. And then...there it was, before my very eyes, a NYX counter jam packed to the brim with beautiful, colourful cosmetics (it had only been installed in the store the night before I visited).

Holiday Hand Luggage Essentials

Wednesday, 8 June 2016

Okay, I'm aware that it's only just getting to summer holiday season, but I am personally going abroad this month and therefore though it wise to write a post about my hand luggage essentials a little early. I have pretty much been planning what I'm to take on my upcoming holiday for quite some time now, but really just wanted to narrow down the main bits and pieces for such a post, as I always find it interesting to see what others pack into their hand luggage...

Getting my Hair Cut & Products by Bardou

Sunday, 5 June 2016

In 2014, after growing my hair for quite some time, I decided to cut it all off to shoulder length.

In 2016, after growing my hair for around a year or so, I decided to cut it all off to shoulder length.

See the similarities? I am that person who always wants to change their hair, or is never happy with the style that it is in. I even spontaneously got a full fringe cut in last year because I wanted a change (however, that hair development didn't last long)! But the thing is, I have zero fear when it comes to cutting my hair (as long as it's to workable length still) : so unlike most people I know, I can merely decide to cut my long hair and follow through with the action without even the slightest hint of nervousness within me...

Places to Eat...in Leeds

Wednesday, 1 June 2016

Over the past few days I have been out and about in the city of Leeds, and have been lucky enough to eat at several lovely places.

Never before have I wrote an restaurant inspired post, but today I thought I would compile a little list of the places that I have most recently dined at, to pose as a help guide to those of you looking for somewhere to eat in Leeds....
