Haircare By OGX

Wednesday, 25 January 2017

I'm always on the lookout for new shampoos and conditioners to try out, and when I first found out about OGX and their range of haircare products a year or so ago, I immediately got very excited! Since then, I have found myself fall rather in love with several of their products - particularly the 'Argan Oil' shampoo and conditioner which have proved vital to keeping my hair nice and silky in recent times...

Therefore, as you can probably imagine, I was very happy indeed to receive a few samples of haircare products from OGX a couple of weeks ago, and after trying them out and loving them, I thought it was only right to tell you all about them here today.

I had taken a look at the 'Coconut Milk' and 'Coconut Water' selection of products that OGX sell, a few times previously and had in fact contemplated purchasing them on many an occasion due to how good I could imagine them to be, and also because they smelt pretty amazing too! So, to receive samples of both from OGX made me very happy indeed - as soon as I got them, I pretty much got washing my hair straight away so as to give them a try, and was (as I had previously imagined) very happy with the results of using them!

My New Favourite Fragrance...

Sunday, 22 January 2017

Last year, after never having tried a fragrance by Yves Saint Laurent before (although I always say YSL due to a pronunciation difficulty with the actual name), I decided that I would really quite like to try the Black Opium perfume - after spritzing some on myself instore, and instantaneously falling in love with the scent, I did proceed to drop several hints about this particular perfume until I received it  as a present for my birthday a few weeks later.

Anyway, since then I have been wearing my Black Opium perfume pretty much everyday due to it's lovely scent (it also has the cutest, glittery little bottle)... so of course, when I saw an advert depicting the new YSL fragrance a few months ago, I again felt inclined to go ahead and investigate.

This new fragrance, which goes by the name of Mon Paris, also happens to smell rather fabulous - it has the same sort of strong scent as the Black Opium, but is still beautiful in it's own individual way! With it nearly being Christmas at the time that I first smelt this fragrance, I thought it wise to wait a while and maybe make it my Duty Free purchase at the airport before my Christmas visit to Spain. In all honesty, I don't really know if by getting this perfume at the airport I saved any money, but the more I think about it, it really doesn't matter - this perfume is literally just so lovely, that the rather high price tag (around £47 for 30ml) seems pretty worthwhile.

New Year, New Watch!

Wednesday, 18 January 2017

For some time now, the thought of getting myself a new watch has been on my mind. I do adore my watches, and love wearing and pairing those in my collection with all my different outfits and accessories - but, considering a new year is now here, I thought it vital to add another gorgeous watch to my collection and hence start 2017 with a brand new accessory!

My new watch by JORD has certainly helped me with getting the new year off to a good start fashion-wise, as this lovely wooden watch certainly adds a unique edge to every outfit. JORD themselves offer a large range of luxury wooden watches, for both men and women, and for all different styles and tastes - I personally picked out a Dark Sandalwood and Slate design, as I love the look of the darker wood themes, but of course if you take a look at the JORD website (http://www.woodwatches.com/#redfern1) then there certainly is something for everyone!

New Foundation - Smashbox Studio Skin

Sunday, 15 January 2017

Hi Again!

For quite some time now, I have been on the lookout for a new high-end foundation, yet for quite some time my search for such a product had been rather unsuccessful. When it comes to going out and purchasing something a little bit more pricey and high-end, I normally do find myself becoming a tad more indecisive... because, when spending more money, it's only right to want to make the right choice product-wise!

I had scoured all the normal beauty sites (Feel Unique, Beauty Bay etc), but had struggled to put my finger on one particular foundation that I thought I would be happy to spend my cash on. Before heading into Boots a couple of weeks ago though, I did kind of have my mind centred towards perhaps purchasing a Clinique foundation after reading a whole host of positive reviews on their range of base products. However, it was whilst I was in Boots that another stand caught my eye...that stand being by none other than Smashbox, who I proceeded to purchase my new foundation from!

Another Vinyl Haul!

Wednesday, 11 January 2017

I love all things music, and do spend the vast majority of my time listening to music either on my laptop or on my record player. When I am doing work or studying, I really find that music is the best thing to keep me nice and de-stressed, but I do of course love listening to it in my free time too - so much a hobby has my love of music become, that I am regularly out buying myself new records, and lately it seems that I have managed to amass a fair few more vinyls to add to my collection... some of which I thought I would share with you all here today!

Recently Bought...

Sunday, 8 January 2017

Seeing as it has recently been Christmas, I figured what better to do with my holidays than go out and have a good old spend! It feels like I haven't gone out and had a proper spending spree for an incredibly long time, so to do so on a few occasions over the past couple of weeks certainly felt very nice indeed!

And, as per usual, a lot of new purchases means a brand new haul - after a very large time lapse since my last haul of any kind, it really does feel strange to sit and write this one up... but with clothes, accessories and new vinyl records involved, I do hope you all enjoy reading this post!

A New Bag

For quite some time now I have known that a new bag was certainly on the cards for me as soon as I got some money to treat myself at Christmas, because after a cull in the bag department a few months back, I literally only had two usable bags at my disposal... and for me, this wasn't at all good!

So, when I visited Stradivarius (for the first time ever) on my recent trip to Spain, one look at their rather fabulous bag department was enough to convince me where my new bag was going to come from! After a brief period of decision making (mostly over which colour bag to buy), I ended up purchasing the pretty lovely red bag that you can see in the above and below photos.

In all honesty, I really am rather chuffed with this bag - not only was it pretty inexpensive (about 20 Euros I think), but the colour of it is perfect and the roomy, medium size of it also makes it perfect to use on a daily basis and fit all of my bits and pieces in.

 A New Hoodie

I must admit that I'm not the biggest hoodie wearer out there (more of a jumper fan to be honest), but when I saw the below hoodie sat in Bershka whilst I was shopping in Spain I just knew that I had to get it...

First, let me backtrack a little and tell you about the first time that I actually saw this item - I was in London a couple of months ago, and amidst a crowded Oxford Street Bershka Store, saw this lovely hoodie. It really did seem perfect; soft, cosy, rather baggy and also with a cute little slogan on the front ('Sweater Weather'), yet I didn't buy it and pretty much regretted that decision the moment that I got home.

So, when I saw this hoodie again a couple of weeks or so ago, I knew that I had to purchase it this time around... and just like I expected, I have already fallen in love with everything about this item (that also wasn't really all the expensive at about 22 Euros), from it's cosiness to the way it can effortlessly keep me warm in the winter chill.

A New T-shirt

You can't really go wrong with purchasing a new tee at any point in the year, especially when said t-shirt is actually from Pull&Bear, and is really super cute with a little dragonfly motif on it!

In Pull&Bear they seem to stock tonnes of really cute slogan and patterned t-shirts, which made the decision of which one to get really quite difficult. After a bit of deliberation though, I eventually settled on the cute little tee that you can see below, which I personally think is a really lovely colour (you have just got to love a bit of burgundy!) and also only cost about 10 Euros, which I would have to say is a bit of a bargain, all things considered.

A New Pair of Shoes

It's true that I only received a new pair of shoes at Christmas time (those shoes being a pair of Converse), but due to most of my other shoes being in a bit of dire state after months of constant wear, another thing that I really wanted to treat myself to after Christmas was a pair of black shoes.

My first port of call for nice, new shoes is usually Schuh and this time was no different - as soon as I walked into the store, I spotted the pair of sleek black trainers that you can see below, and fell in love with them pretty much straight away. After trying them on for size and style, I had made up my mind... these lovely shoes were definitely going to become my next purchase, and so far I am really loving wearing them, and pairing them with all my different outfits!

A Couple of New Records

By the time we reached Christmas, it has been a good few months since I had gone out and purchased a new vinyl record for myself, so you can imagine the happiness that I felt upon receiving some money for Christmas to buy myself some new records with, as well as a HMV voucher too!

I did have a bit of a struggle at first trying to find some of the records that I wanted though, as following the Christmas period many on my wishlist were seemingly out of stock. After a good look around Amazon though, I eventually found Maroon 5's 'Songs About Jane', which is an album that I have wanted to buy myself for quite some time, after having listened to a lot of the songs on there since I was younger.

What's more, for quite some time now, I have known that I need to buy myself some David Bowie records considering that before the Christmas period, my collection (if you can even call it that) consisted of only one single! So, after finding out that a new compilation album called 'Legacy' was soon to be released, I quickly ordered that for myself, before going in to HMV later and pursing yet another album called 'ChangesOne' - this again is a bit of a 'the best of album' which although has a few song overlaps with my other new album, is a really cool lp and one I have found myself listening to a heck of a lot since I bought it!

*** I do have a Vinyl Haul post coming up very soon though, containing more of my recently bought records, so stay tuned for that too!

As you can probably tell, I have certainly made the most of my free time recently, and packed in a lot of much needed retail therapy following the Christmas period! I'm really happy with the purchases I have mentioned in this post today though, as well as some of the others that I have made over the past couple of weeks... I also really hope you all enjoyed this haul post, especially as it is also my Birthday soon so there will probably be a few more similar upcoming posts!

Benefit Besties Box Set

Wednesday, 4 January 2017

Recently, I wrote up a post about some of the bits and bobs that I received for Christmas. Surprisingly for me, that post was actually lacking in beauty items - this is because I didn't really receive all that much makeup for Christmas, as for me, it's probably pretty difficult to know what to buy when I already have amassed quite a large collection of beauty items!

However, I was lucky enough to receive a big box of goodies from one of my favourite brands... Benefit! When walking around Boots a good few weeks before Christmas, I happened to notice that the gift of the week (I think that it's called something like that) was a big old box full of Benefit Mini's. Clearly, my Mom picked up on the fact that I really loved the look of this particular gift, and when I opened it up at Christmas time, I felt pretty happy indeed to have received it and own all the little Benefit items inside... because, although I previously said that I own quite a lot of makeup, it must be said that you just can't own enough items from Benefit

In the post though, I thought I would just mention a little about the products that I received as a part of this rather fabulous box set - as the name of it mentions, inside you get a whole host of miniature versions of Benefit 'Best Sellers', which for me included some items that I have tried and loved before, and also some that are a bit new to me... including ;

A Few of My Christmas Presents!

Sunday, 1 January 2017

And so Christmas is done and dusted again! I really hope you all had the most amazing Christmas time, enjoyed the festive season, and also got all that you wanted for the big day - I know that I personally received some lovely presents, and just as I did in a similar post last year, therefore thought I would share a few of my favourites with you all today!

Books - Of course, me being me, I had to ask for a couple of books for Christmas! The first being a really cool movie book that I had spotted in Urban Outfitters a few months back - being a real movie nerd, I just knew that this book would be perfect for me as soon as I saw it, as what with it's listing of 100 of the best films of the 20th Century (it's actual name is '100 All-Time Favourite Movies of the Twentieth Century' if any of you are interested), I could, and will, certainly get hours of reading out of it.

Another book that I also received for Christmas was One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, which again is a book that I have wanted to read for an incredibly long time after seeing nothing but excellent reviews on it. I am now almost finished reading this novel after taking it on my recent holiday to Spain with me, and must say that I have enjoyed it greatly and now can't wait to get round to watching the movie adaptation of it too! In terms of books though, you may also be able to see another couple of ones in the backgrounds of the above photos - these are a couple of really cool Beatles books that I also received for Christmas, one being a sort of fact book and the other being a 'Where's the Beatles' themed one (and both of which I also really love, considering I am a pretty big Beatles fan).
