New Foundation - Smashbox Studio Skin

Hi Again!

For quite some time now, I have been on the lookout for a new high-end foundation, yet for quite some time my search for such a product had been rather unsuccessful. When it comes to going out and purchasing something a little bit more pricey and high-end, I normally do find myself becoming a tad more indecisive... because, when spending more money, it's only right to want to make the right choice product-wise!

I had scoured all the normal beauty sites (Feel Unique, Beauty Bay etc), but had struggled to put my finger on one particular foundation that I thought I would be happy to spend my cash on. Before heading into Boots a couple of weeks ago though, I did kind of have my mind centred towards perhaps purchasing a Clinique foundation after reading a whole host of positive reviews on their range of base products. However, it was whilst I was in Boots that another stand caught my eye...that stand being by none other than Smashbox, who I proceeded to purchase my new foundation from!

I hadn't ever really considered looking at Smashbox for a foundation before, but after trying a few of their products before (and being insanely impressed), I decided to take a bit of a risk and purchase the Studio Skin for myself. Of course, I did do a few swatches of the foundation first though, before I went up to the till and actually spent my money on it - choosing to opt for shade 1.1 (which I believe is the second lightest shade they offer), after applying a bit of this product on my hand, the weightless feel and good shade match immediately convinced me that this particular product would indeed be my next new foundation!

For £29, I must also say that you get a rather large bottle of foundation for your money when it comes to this foundation; I know that I previously mentioned about looking towards Clinique for a similar product, but found myself a tad disappointed at how much foundation I would be getting for my money (the bottles in my local Boots were really all quite small)... although, that being said, I still may well try a Clinique foundation at some point in the future too.

However, like I say, you do get a rather big bottle of product with the Studio Skin, and considering that I only tend to use a small blob of foundation per use, I can imagine that it will take me quite some time to actually get through my current bottle. I will most likely be using this new foundation of mine pretty much everyday for the foreseeable future though - the first proper use of the Studio Skin really proved to me just how much I am going to love using this product, and how happy I am to have took the risk to purchase it...

The feeling of weightlessness that I felt when applying this product to my hand in-store, again shone through when I properly applied it to my skin for the first time a couple of weeks back, but as well as being light this foundation still also seemed to counteract a lot of the red patches that often appear on my face too, which of course is a definite plus! In terms of this foundation's claim to last for 15 hours, I must also say that so far I have been mightily impressed by how well it has stayed on my skin throughout the day - although I haven't worn it for the full 15 hours, for the lengths of time that I have been wearing it so far, it hasn't failed to stay in place and doesn't seem to cause much shininess either.

This post really was just a sort of first impression of my new foundation, the Smashbox Studio Skin, and despite the fact that I really love using it so far, I will continue to keep you updated on my thoughts about this product as time passes - as of yet, I haven't had the chance to use it during a bad skin breakout, which is normally pretty much the time when a foundation either stands out...or well, doesn't!

Have you ever tried the Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation before? If so, please let me know your thoughts on it in the comments below!

  1. Definitely worth seeing how this is when your skin has a breakout as I think that's the ultimate test for foundation!
I've recently been switching up my foundations, not sure if you've tried the Bare Minerals bareskin serum foundation but it's soo good, really natural and lightweight I would recommend it!
